Associate director of finance and performance

Nigel is currently Associate Director of Finance & Performance for Halton place within the NHS Cheshire & Merseyside Integrated Care Board. He is CCAB qualified accountant (FCCA) with over 28 years post-qualification experience and nearly 20 years working within global chartered accountancy and advisory practices; during this time he was involved range of NHS assurance (audits and due diligence assignments including for NHS foundation trust authorisations) and consultancy engagements. In addition, Nigel’s experience of working directly in the NHS spans over 15 years and includes stints within the provider (acute and community) and commissioner sectors. During his time with NHS England, Nigel also supported the development of the Better Care Fund programme and other national initiatives. 

Nigel also has particular interest in population health and the development of strategies to address health inequalities, which is underpinned by a Masters (Distinction) in Health Economics and Policy. In his current role, he seeks to bring much of this theoretical insight to bear in leading Place partners in a collective approach to developing a sustainable financial strategy for Halton.

Nigel is also a participant in the first cohort of the HFMA’s Health Inequality Finance Fellows (HIFF) programme.
