Welcome to the branch

We aim to develop branch members by providing webinars so that you can develop yourself while you take a break, returning invigorated and motivated, or by providing development sessions aimed at helping you further your career such as CV writing, developing your personal brand and other such invaluable support.  

We support our students with our Student Network and student conference bringing together those who are studying to share ideas and to support each other. 

HFMA Northern Branch conference is undoubtedly the high spot of our calendar and will once again be held in June, allowing over two hundred delegates to catch up with former colleagues and friends, and to benefit from some inspiring content. It’s not just our colleagues who benefit from the conference though - in June 2023 we raised over £1,200 in our conference raffle for two local charities, supporting some of our more deprived localities.

What makes the branch unique

Finance Business Partner Club

In 2023 we joined forces with Finance Business Partner Club to provide 100 lucky members a year’s membership, provided they also became a One NHS Finance Valuemaker. Our finance business partner club members have been given access to the content they need to really make a difference in their organisations.

Local partnerships

We work closely with both the Yorkshire & Humber Branch and with the Skills Development network, underneath the North East and Yorkshire Regional Academy Umbrella ensuring that the requirements set out by the finance leadership council are put into practice. This includes supporting a Developing Talent programme, initially for deputy levels, but more recently aimed at bands 6 and 7 to help develop the future talent pipeline.

HFMA Champions

We are most proud of our network of HFMA Champions who meet quarterly to discuss and share ideas on how the branch can best support the finance community. This supports the branch to shape our training and professional development events, enhance local networking and ensure we offer some fun social activities as well – this year we have an army challenge and a treasure hunt planned.

Bands 2 to 6 engagement

We are particularly keen to hear from colleagues who are in bands 2-6 who can now enjoy benefits from free membership. Being a champion can support your own development and give you access to an external network of finance colleagues. Please email our vice chair for further information or an informal discussion.
