Head of finance – reporting

I joined the NHS in 2013 as part of the Graduate Management Training Scheme, where I had placements in the provider, commissioner and consultancy setting. After completing the scheme and gaining my CIMA qualification, I became a Finance Manager for a clinical division in Management Accounts at St George’s University Hospitals in 2016. I then moved to the Financial Reporting team, where I have progressed in various roles. I am now currently Head of Financial Reporting at St George’s.

I am passionate about the training and development of finance and non-finance staff, for which I am the lead at St George’s. In 2022, we were the HFMA London Training and Development award winners and we were also nominated for the national HFMA award. As well as expanding our Trustwide training programme, I have set up more innovative ways of training and development. These include the Finance Department Ward Volunteering Programme and the Finance Department Dragons’ Den. I am currently a member of the HFMA London Committee and I enjoy working with others in the region to help shape the training and development programme on offer.

I oversee the University placement student programme at St George’s, where we have four places available each year. After completing their placement, I have become a mentor for many of them and offered support to help with their careers. Some have returned to work in the NHS and others have secured graduate roles in accountancy.
