Speaker / Shona Metcalfe

Shona is Director of Finance at NHS Kent and Medway and is passionate about delivering a greener NHS. She’s actively involved in the South East Finance Academy with a particular focus on environmental sustainability, helping financial professionals use their specialist skills to deliver environmental improvements in the NHS. In her NHS career she has undertaken a wide range of roles including overseeing the financial planning process for the NHS in the South East and taking a senior leadership role during covid. She’s worked in the NHS since joining Monitor in 2013 and has worked across England on issues including financial turnaround, operational performance challenges, mergers and devolution. Before this she was an external auditor leading complex public sector audits for the Audit Commission and KPMG. Outside the NHS, Shona serves on a finance committee for a local charity and has a range of voluntary experience.
