Head of finance
Over my long career in NHS Finance, I have been able to benefit from a number of coaching and mentoring programmes, both as a mentee and a mentor. In my role as Finance staff Development lead for both HUTH and NLAG, I have put in place programmes to support all our staff including all our students. I have introduced a mentoring programme for this and I oversee this but I am available to mentor people across Yorkshire Humber finance (and further afield). I have capacity as I tend to avoid mentoring locally to avoid a conflict of interest as training lead.
I have broad finance experience across mainly Management accounts in the provider setting and also outside finance in a Ops role for a while. I am both qualified in CIMA and AAT as well as holding a Post Graduate diploma in Health & Social Services Management.
I am passionate about developing our teams and about supporting our staff. I am Health and & Well being lead for HUTH and NLAG as well as one of the I&D ambassadors. During my own career I benefitted on coaching/mentoring on a number of occasions. It introduced mindfulness to me during a period of uncertainty and stress. I am a trained ACAS investigator, which has given me experience in complex staffing situations. During 2023 I was given a place on a regionally funded Mentoring/Coaching ILM Level 5 course to specifically support finance staff across the ICB and beyond and I feel that any mentee I took on would really benefit from my further knowledge on this – and further tools this has provided me with.
