News alert / Appointments impacted by strikes now over one million
The number of acute inpatient and outpatient appointments rescheduled due to strike action in the NHS is now over one million, following the historic joint strikes carried out by junior doctors and consultants last week. The recent coordinated strikes led to 129,913 appointments being rescheduled and 28,802 staff absent due to the strike at its peak on 20 September. NHS England noted that this data does not account for community and mental health appointments, so the true impact is likely to be larger.
