The HFMA Yorkshire and Humber branch would like to invite you attend the NHS Annual Business Planning/ Financial Recovery event taking place online on the 25th September 2024 via ZOOM - 09:30-16:30.
Programme
This highly interactive training day is divided into 2 parts, with each section covering the subject matter from both a theoretical and practical perspective.
Annual Business Planning element covers:
- The annual planning process and the challenges faced by Budget holders, Finance teams, the Board and external Regulators.
- The Budget setting methods & timetable, including planning guidance from NHS England, the iterative process of balancing costs with revenue, efficiency requirements (Cost Improvements) & applicability and appropriateness for services leading to the final sign off of plans by the Board, ICB & NHS England.
- The governance issues & cultural challenges that need to be overcome in the planning process.
- All of the above will be discussed with practical examples and a business plan exercise.
Financial Recovery element:
Given up to ¾ of NHS organisations are in financial recovery, the following is covered:
- The ‘Financial Recovery Curve’ to determine the current challenge for organisations and the steps that can be taken to move to financial sustainability.
- Consider the productivity challenge & how finance can support with this.
- The principles to achieve a successful turnaround in an organisation.
- The cultural and organisational challenges of the ‘Recovery’ process.
- Ensuring all the above is considered in the context of each delegate’s organisation.
Suitable for:
- NHS Finance staff who are involved in the budget setting and annual planning process. Staff working in Programme Management Offices (PMOs) will also find the content very useful for their roles and responsibilities.
- Aimed at bands 6, 7, 8 for this more introductory/refresher session.
This training will be delivered by the Finance Training Academy.
