Event / Financial sustainability across the four nations 2024
About this event
This half-day online forum will bring together the finance functions from across the four nations to consider the important part NHS colleagues play in delivering effective and financially sustainable patient outcomes and services.
With the NHS facing growing financial challenges for 2024/25 we will take time to discuss and reflect how the four nations of the United Kingdom have been tackling the common aim of delivering a financially sustainable health service. Attendees will learn from other systems from around the UK who face similar financial and common challenges, through shared learning, covering themes such as workforce, planning cycles, financial recovery and population health management.
Join NHS finance colleagues from across the United Kingdom to discuss how they have been tackling these important issues.
A full programme will follow shortly.

In June 2022 HSC NI established the Performance and Transformation Executive Board, the remit of which included the driving forward and implementation of regional and system-wide operational improvements and transformation. As part of the programme a Regional Agency Reduction Implementation Steering Group was established to develop and implement a plan to safely facilitate and manage the service impact of reducing unsustainable agency and locum expenditure.
During 2023/24 HSC has effectively removed general utilisation of off-contract nurse agency entirely. This presentation will talk through the case for change, the critical success factors which enabled this system-wide change including the whole-system collaboration, local factors and other co-dependencies.
