The Governance and Audit Committee promotes best practice and innovation in standards of governance and audit across the UK and through the HFMA’s local and national networks.
The Governance and Audit Committee develops guidance to help NHS organisations put in place sound governance arrangements and effective audit. Committee publications include the NHS audit committee handbook, guidance to support the year-end audit and the regularly updated NHS corporate governance guidance map. The committee also supports the annual chairs’ and non-executive directors event and audit conference.
The committee’s membership includes representatives from across the NHS and wider public sector, as well as NHS England and independent consultants.
The committee meets four times a year.
