HFMA Wales Branch chair HFMA mentor

Huw is new to mentoring, but brings a wealth of experience to the role. Having trained and volunteered as a Samaritan back in 2000, Huw has developed great learning skills. Huw is Chair of the Wales HFMA branch, and is focused on improving the opportunities available for staff to learn and develop.

Conversational in style, Huw is naturally reflective and will use this to ensure that mentees feel at ease and are given the space they need to consider what would work for them.

Formerly, Huw worked for PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP, before moving to the NHS; initially working for an Acute Trust in Bath and latterly in Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board (BCU). BCU is one of the largest NHS organisations in the UK and as an integrated Board, undertakes all NHS responsibilities in North Wales.

Huw is happy to bring these experiences into the conversation where these might help a mentee understand their issues within a wider context. Careers are forged over the long term; and over that period we all have ups and downs. Huw is more than happy to talk about the challenges he has faced, especially where these can support a mentee through any of their difficult challenges.
