I joined the NHS in 1999 on the National Financial Management Training Scheme and worked my way through many different finance departments and organisations, predominantly in Leicester, Kettering and Northampton, to eventually become the Chief Financial Officer of East Leicestershire and Rutland Clinical Commissioning Group.  However, my current role of Deputy Director of Finance (Staff Development) at University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust is my most fulfilling role to date, where my key focus is to improve the culture of the Finance & Procurement Directorate.  I am particularly keen to empower staff to make the right decisions for themselves regarding the choices they make and how they resolve issues at work.  I therefore undertake a lot of coaching and mentoring as part of this role and am keen to expand this offering to staff in organisations outside of UHL.
