The HFMA has responded to NHS England and NHS Improvement’s consultation on next steps to building strong and effective integrated care systems across England

The HFMA welcomes the proposals and we believe that giving integrated care systems (ICSs) statutory status is a significant step in the right direction. Many of the current challenges facing sustainability and transformation partnerships (STPs) and ICSs result from them being non-statutory organisations with no formal accountability or powers that are trying to fulfil their role of managing the allocation of resource to, and monitoring the performance of, statutory organisations.
