Briefing / Roundtable: digital role

All staff need to be more aware of how new technologies can transform services and drive value. But finance professionals will have a particularly important role to play in the move to digital healthcare. An HFMA roundtable in April 2021, supported by Health Education England, discussed this role, the obstacles that need to be overcome and the support that finance professionals will need to take this agenda forward.
 
Issues discussed included developing a common language across clinical, IT and finance professions and putting more focus on benefits realisation. Finance professionals also highlighted the need for more support with prioritisation of different programmes and the need to recognise that digital business cases will not always deliver benefits in the very short-term.
