HFMA South West Accreditation Scheme
“the more you put into it, the more you get out of it”

In March 2014, the South West Branch launched the ‘Accreditation Scheme’ to reward NHS organisations across the region for their commitment to providing outstanding professional development for their finance teams.

As training budgets become increasingly under pressure, Accredited Status offers essential resources that can be drawn upon by yourself and your finance team. Over the past 2 years, Accredited organisations have had exclusive access to several free training events, staff away days and access to external facilitators, amongst much more. This year, we are delighted to be adding even more.

“The key question for me is why you wouldn’t join the HFMA South West Accreditation Scheme. You get excellent resources, external support and a Finance Director and team that shows commitment to your staff.” Director of Finance at Plymouth Hospitals Foundation Trust.

All NHS organisations in the South West region can have access to these resources and benefits by becoming accredited. To find out how, click here *application form*

Listen to Paul Vater, Director of Finance at Dorset CCG and Sarah Brampton, Director of Finance at Devon Partnership Trust, describe their experience of the Accreditation Scheme:

Benefits of Accredited Status:

HFMA South West accredited status: Becoming a HFMA South West Accredited Organisation is formal recognition that your organisation is committed to providing learning and development opportunities to all finance staff – enhancing your reputation as an employer of choice.

Peer mentoring training: As part of the finance team at an accredited organisation, you have access to FREE peer mentoring training days, FFF webinars, a broker pack and professional materials, so that your organisation can develop a Peer Mentoring Network*.

So far this year, peer support training has reached finance staff from Cornwall Partnership Foundation Trust, Royal Cornwall Hospitals, Royal Bournemouth and Christchurch Hospitals, Dorset Healthcare, DCHFT and Dorset CCG.

Resource to help every accredited organisation run an annual finance team development day: Including a DIY event facilitation pack containing videos, icebreakers, presentations and other useful documentation. Available from the Accredited Organisations private webpage.

Exclusive free access for up to 2 individuals per accredited organisation to join an annual ‘ideas exchange: This event will be taking place in October 2016 and will bring together senior figures from across health and social care, offered exclusively over and above the core FSD programme

Access to an external facilitator - where a health community of accredited organisations come together to locally host a #Connect event with all relevant partner organisations - health, social care and third sector.

This year, Paul Vater, Chief Finance Officer, Dorset CCG, has utilised this funding (available exclusively to Accredited organisations) to host #ConnectDorset 2016 ‘how to improve quality and the cash position’ on 15th July 2016. Click here to view the programme.

Access to the Finance Governance Assurance Training Package - An online resource designed to raise awareness of the financial responsibilities that all staff have within a CCG. It is a way to provide assurance to the governing body and the CCG GP membership that all CCG staff understand their financial responsibilities.
