Primary care and the Long Term Plan

Overview

This course looks at how primary care services are commissioned and how they are delivered. Primary care operates as the gateway to most health services and is referred to by NHS England as the foundation of the NHS.  This course looks at how many of these services are commissioned from independent contractors. The course concludes with an overview of how GP practices are responding to Government policy to encourage integration and joint working between health and social care.

This course is relevant to those who are new to the NHS clinical staff, budget and operational managers, finance staff, primary care staff.

Can I use this course to gain a qualification?

You can complete this intermediate course as part of a series of 11 courses, to achieve the HFMA Intermediate certificate ‘How finance works in the NHS’. This is equivalent to an undergraduate level certificate worth 20 academic credits.
