This course provides an overview of the finance and governance regime followed by NHS charities. It covers the place of charities in the NHS and how they have developed over time. It sets out key legislative and regulatory requirements and looks at the role of trustees and the Charity Commission. The course also covers the annual reports and accounts and how funds are run on a day-to-day basis.
This course is suitable for staff who are new to the NHS, managing a budget, clinical staff, governors/ board members and finance staff.

This course can count towards the Foundation award in healthcare finance. To achieve the award you will need to complete five bitesize short courses, including the compulsory short course ‘NHS finance’. The Foundation award can be purchased for just £165+VAT.
