North West organisations have been short-listed 11 times – almost a third of all the nominees. The 2020 Finance Team of the Year will come from the North West, with Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, Wigan Borough Clinical Commissioning Group and Warrington and Halton Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust making up the shortlist.Image removed.

There is also a shortlist of three for the top personal award – Finance Director of the Year – which includes Jonathan Webb of West Yorkshire Integrated Care System and Wakefield Clinical Commissioning Group, Catherine Phillips of North Bristol NHS Trust, and Colin McCready from Supply Chain Co-ordination Limited.

The quality of entries for the Deputy Finance Director of the Year Award led the judging panel to take the unusual step of shortlisting five candidates.

The shortlists also reflect the increasing importance of integration and collaborative working across health and care boundaries, with a number of candidates holding system-level posts.

There are two new awards this year, taking the total up to 10 – the Embracing Technology Award and the Overcoming Adversity Award. These awards recognise actions taken to meet challenges presented by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Where applicable, shortlisted organisations will be interviewed by a panel of judges in early November, with the winners announced on 10 December during the HFMA annual conference.

Full details of the shortlisted entries are available on the HFMA website
