News alert / Right care, right person: call for funding clarity
The Commons Health and Social Care Committee has called on the Department of Health and Social Care to clarify funding arrangements for the roll-out of the right care, right person strategy, which changes the way emergency services respond to mental health calls and means police will not automatically be the first responders. With police forces proceeding with implementation and not all health systems ready, the committee said it was unclear where the estimated £260m funding would come from.
