Competitive Salary

You will receive a starting salary of £25,366 from September 2022, rising to a minim of £31,437 in the third and final year of the scheme. Salaries for senior finance professionals from from £30k-£95k and Directors of Finance can earn over £100k. 

In addition we will automatically enrol you onto the NHS’s highly regarded pension scheme when you start with us.

What are the benefits of the scheme? 

Fully funded professional accounting qualification (ACCA)

Trainees will study their qualification with ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) over a period of 36 months.

Three year training contract 
It is a fast track scheme which aims to get trainees professionally qualified with a broad range of NHS
experience within a period of 36 months.

Access to a wide range of training and development events 
Trainees are exposed to a wide range of relevant training and development opportunities organised by HFMA. Including regional conferences, CPD and technical events and webinars. In addition to a variety of Networking opportunities with senior finance staff.

Flexi Placement 
The flexi placement aims to provide an opportunity for each trainee to gain experience of an organisation other than their planned work placements. For the trainee, the flexi placement should provide personal and professional development that will contribute to their success on the Scheme and within the NHS.

Annual leave 
Trainees full year leave entitlement is 27 days annual leave, plus national and bank holidays, per annum. Additional annual leave may be available for those trainees who have previous NHS service whether it be continuous or reckonable service.


Every trainee will be supported and guided throughout their time on the scheme by their Training manager, Placement manager, HFMA FMTS exec, buddy, fellow trainees and academic support
