Tutor - 'How finance works in the NHS'

Andrew has over 30 years’ experience working in the NHS, many of those at executive level. He started his career as an information analyst before taking stepping into NHS finance.  He worked in a number of roles in finance including finance director. As well as developing a wealth of experience as a director of finance, Andrew has been a chief executive of a mental health trust - a position he held for 8 years before retirement.

Andrew has experience drawn from a variety of sectors in the NHS having worked in both provider organisations and as a commissioner.  He has also worked in the intermediate tier at regional level.

Paul Assinder

Tutor - 'Creating and delivering value in UK healthcare'

Paul Assinder is one of the most experienced financial leaders in the UK Healthcare industry, with over 25 years board level experience as CFO and director of finance in private providers, consultancy and the NHS.

Paul's most recent projects include financial recovery and supporting large scale sustainability & transformation plans across the NHS. He has played a key role in establishing genomics and proteomics infrastructure in the UK for the international Nantworks Group, the leading healthcare and life sciences technology provider.

Paul is a former national president of HFMA and continues to enjoy an active thought leadership role in UK healthcare through both published articles and public speaking invitations. Paul is also a Council member of the Healthcare Costing for Value Institute.

Steve Simmons

Tutor - 'How finance works in the NHS'

Steve is a graduate of the London school of economics and a member of CIMA. He keeps it a secret how long ago he became a qualified accountant, but rumour has it 1974. After a career in the industry, he first became an NHS finance director in 1992, then became chief executive of a mental health and community trust in 1999.

He has been a finance director in several types of corporate structures in the NHS, including Acute, SHA, PCT and CIC organisations. Steve used to chair the south west regional finance staff development group for the NHS. He was finance director of 4 PCTs in Hertfordshire simultaneously ahead of their merger.

Steve has a huge amount of experience at an intermediate level due to his great interests within the finance industry, he is also interested in sport, football in particular. He served as finance director for just over a year for Watford and to him, this is the supposed dream role.

Bob Baker

Tutor - 'Personal effectiveness and leadership'

Bob specialises in personal, team and organisational development and has a strong understanding of the context in which development takes place, especially inter-agency settings and health policy and practice. He has also contributed to international leadership programmes – working in Bulgaria, Spain and Belgium.

After working with British Gas, the NHS, a university and an employee-owned consultancy, Bob is now using his experience to deliver innovative leadership programmes and organisational development support to a variety of clients. Bob is passionate about giving space to leaders, to reflect and understand their leadership and organisational dilemmas. Bob uses action learning, coaching and conversational approaches to make this happen.


Neena Vivash

Tutor - 'Tools to support decision making'

Neena is a result driven, dynamic and commercially astute business executive and CEO, who has operated at main board director level for over 15 years. An entrepreneurial innovator with strong leadership and communication skills, Neena thrives on change.

Her experience spans a range of industries including blue chip companies, most latterly in NHS, financial services, utilities, technology, sport and pharmaceuticals. Building strong business relationships easily is at the forefront of her success. Neena has extensive experience in change management and in designing and leading business transformation programmes. She also has a strong consultancy background in performance management and business improvement providing her with a valuable breadth of experience in delivering results and in organisational management. Neena is CGMA qualified and is the former CEO of Bellis-Jones Hill, recognised as one of the leading providers of patient level costing solutions for the NHS.

In early 2015 tapping into her entrepreneurial skills Neena established NV Consulting Solutions, a consultancy focused on organisational potential, growth and performance.  Neena has a passion for training, coaching and mentoring others and a desire to share her knowledge and experience.

David Dumigan

Tutor - 'Tools to support decision-making'

David has operated at board level for many years and has fulfilled the role of finance director in a large teaching hospital as well as a troubled foundation trust (which commissioned one of the largest PFI’s in the country during his tenure) plus two smaller acute trusts. He has had recent experiences with PFI schemes, organisational re-structuring including mergers and takeovers, governance reviews, contract negotiations and business transformation.

David is attracted to organisations that need compassionate help and support during challenging times.  He is committed to the NHS, with over 35 years of experience to bring to the arena.  He operates from within his own consultancy company and now has directorships/trusteeships with organisations as diverse as a large national charity, a small housing association, a leisure complex and a county cricket club. He is a qualified mentor and lecturer.

Letsie Tilley_circle

Letsie Tilley

Tutor - 'Comparative healthcare systems'

Letsie has worked in senior NHS finance management roles for 30 years including 20 years as the board-level finance director. She gained a good reputation for strong leadership, creating robust financial management, and maintaining financial stability in times of significant turbulence and change. She has a wide range of experience, having worked in acute, community, mental health and learning disabilities services organisations and an NHS clinical commissioning group (CCG). She also has worked for Price Waterhouse (PWC) and in local government.

Over many years, Letsie developed a special interest in finance staff training and development and NHS patient costing and has a national reputation for her work in both these areas. She has always been strongly committed to improving NHS leadership and staff development.
