Trevor Wright

Autism Consultant, ReSolve

Trevor was a qualified social worker and lead commissioner working across health and social care.  He was diagnosed as autistic at the age of 56 with his daughter diagnosed at the age of 17. Trevor’s access to diagnosis was relatively straightforward his access to subsequent assessment and support has been poor.  His daughter’s access to diagnosis was traumatic and her access to assessment and support patchy at best.  As a result, he has presented detail of their experiences with suggestions for improvement as patient story to the local mental health trust and continues to support the improvement of the Trusts services as an Expert by Experience.

Trevor is now an autism consultant. He co-chaired the Learning Disability and Autism subgroup of the Social Care Covid Task Force.   He is one of the lead autistic trainers for the Oliver McGowan project, an Autism Champion for Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland, an Expert by Experience on the Midlands NHSE Forum Core Group and the Autistic Co-Chair of the DHSC Autism Strategy Executive.  Trevor is also a writer, has had two volumes of poetry published by Big White Shed, has delivered creative writing workshops for older psychiatric patients, set up an online creative writing project for autistic people with Writing East Midlands and is a Writer Trustee of the Nottingham UNESCO City of Literature.
