Emily Maitlis presents This Week’s World, a new current affairs programme on BBC2 on Saturdays. She is also one of the main presenters of Newsnight, the BBC’s flagship news and current affairs programme, where she recently enjoyed a stint as Political Editor, and a regular BBC News channel anchor.
In May 2015 Emily featured as a member of the core presenting team on BBC 1’s flagship General Election Results programme, alongside David Dimbleby and Jeremy Vine, reprising her role from previous BBC UK and USA Election Specials. She is an awardwinning documentary maker for Inside Facebook: Zuckerburg’s $100 Billion Gamble – 2012 which won the Harold Wincott Business Programme of the Year Award 2013.
Emily has interviewed numerous figures from the world of politics, sports and the arts, including Bill Clinton, the Dalai Lama, Donald Trump, David Beckham, Kofi Annan, Hugh Grant, Michael Caine, Juliette Binoche, Julian Assange and Christine Lagarde, as well as the last four UK prime ministers.
She has reported from China, India, Malaysia, Washington, Cambodia and was based in the Far East for six years.
Emily has travelled extensively and speaks basic Mandarin. She has written for GQ, Glamour and the Spectator Magazine as well as the Guardian, the Evening Standard and the New Statesman. She speaks French, Spanish and Italian fluently, and in her spare time enjoys running marathons in odd parts of the world.
