About this event

This event offered a unique place for colleagues working within secondary healthcare, primary care, local government and other integrated care system organisations to come together to discuss common priorities, challenges and successes within their field.

    Neil will provide an update around the support and guidance available from the centre, including a summary of the developments since the introduction of ICBs last July.

    He will also touch upon:
    • the progress of work around system governance and legal framework
    • a planning update including Pharmacy, Ophthalmic and Dental (POD) delegation.

    James is a primary care physician and formally the senior partner in a nationally renowned, award winning general practice in the North West of England. During this session, James will discuss how we can improve integration and working relationships with primary care.

    #RootOutRacism is a movement created by West Yorkshire Health and Care Partnership to tackle structural and institutional racism across the area. The multi-award winning movement aims encourage people to better inform themselves on anti-racist behaviours and practices through educational resources, real-life images, stories and most importantly action. Karen Coleman (associate director of communications and engagement, NHS West Yorkshire ICB) will talk to us about the initial concept of the movement, how it was designed, and how organisations across the area made it successful.

    Chris has been leading research and policy work at The King's Fund since 2007, during which time he has been closely involved in the development of ICSs and their precursor, STPs. Chris will share The King's Fund's thoughts about the direction they see ICSs travelling and their concerns regarding potential future pitfalls.

    We will also hear about the Hewitt Review and possible outcomes when the review is released

    Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent Integrated Care System is the first system finance team to win the HFMA Finance Team of the Year award. The ICB’s chief finance officer, Paul Brown, will talk to us about the process of creating a united finance team across the system and how this has affected performance and working across the organisation.

    Mark has spent is career working between the NHS and local government, including as care & health programme manager as the Local Government Association. Drawing from his experience, he will highlight some of the barriers, and potential solutions, to better working with local authorities. Mark will also discuss some of the projects currently underway at Gloucestershire Integrated Care System.

    The HFMA are refreshing the System Finance Special Interest Group to ensure the group's focus and work programme aligns with the changes brought about by the Health and Care Act 2022 and current system-wide priorities. In this update, we will hear about who the group is open to and what the group hopes to achieve in 2023/ 24.
