In December 2022, we gathered together for our annual conference to discuss and learn about the upcoming opportunities and challenges facing the NHS finance sector.

What happened at this year's conference? 

Throughout the conference we looked at the future of healthcare, including the hot topics that will shape its evolution and how we need to adjust strategies to meet the changes. 

Within this, our programme covered environment sustainability, diversity and inclusion, health inequalities, and digital transformation. As well as granting the opportunity to hear case studies from around the NHS, we also heard from leading voices outside of healthcare namely Chris Lubbe, Beth Rigby and Steven Bartlett. 

This year’s theme 

The theme for the HFMA annual conference 2022, and our 2022-2023 presidential theme, was Strength in numbers. This focused on reasserting the influence of the finance function on discussions throughout the NHS to deliver effective and sustainable patient services. It also emphasised our continued mission to strengthen the HFMA member network and grow a diverse and inclusive membership that fully represents the healthcare finance community at all band levels.

Without question the HFMA annual conference is the biggest and most prestigious HFMA event of the NHS calendar. The HFMA annual conference 2022 hybrid event was a huge success and attracted almost 800 face-to-face registered to join us in London, while over 1250 delegates tuned in online. The conference continues to grow from strength to strength.
