Future-Focused Finance is about ‘Making People Count’ and offers a vision for NHS finance to aspire to over the next five years. That includes everyone who works in finance, in every role at every level, those we work with to deliver services and the patients and communities that use and support those services.
To deliver the transformation required to bring about the vision, work is being developed around three strategic themes: securing excellence, knowing the business and fulfilling our potential. Each theme has specific action areas which have their own programme of projects. The six action areas are led by a senior responsible officer (SRO) drawn from the service. These are:
Best Possible Value - Caroline Clarke, Director of Finance and Deputy Chief Executive, Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust
Efficient Processes & Systems – Awaiting confirmation
Close Partnering - Dr Sanjay Agrawal, Consultant Respiratory Intensivist, University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust
Skills & Strengths - Richard Alexander, Finance Director, University College London Hospitals NHS FT
Great Place to Work - Cathy Kennedy, Deputy Chief Executive & Chief Financial Officer, North East Lincolnshire Clinical Commissioning Group
Foundations for Sustained Improvement - Mark Orchard, Director of Finance, NHS England (Wessex)
For further information please see the overview of FFF Action Areas.
Since launching, we have been working closely with FSD and HFMA to ensure we gain from the existing networks and experience in steering the strategic direction of the FFF programme. In March 2015 we established a Foundation, to secure the aims and objectives of FFF into the longer-term, with HFMA and the FSD network as founding partners. We have also signed an agreement with HFMA to be the prime strategic partner for the programme. In its role as prime partner, it contributes resources to FFF in the form of secretariat support to the FLC and the Foundation and provides the hosting arrangements for FFF budgets and contracting.
FFF has its own YouTube channel which contains update videos on the programme and footage from some of our events. You can also Follow FFF on Twitter @nhsfff #FutureFocusedFinance.
If you would like any further information on any of the above, please get in touch with the FFF central team who will be more than happy to help
