Making a Difference 2012
HFMA launches “Making a Difference” in partnership with FSD to Support NHS finance staff to drive and implement change
HFMA are pleased to announce the launch of their Making a Difference programme.
HFMA’s President, Sue Jacques, is focusing her theme for 2012 on “Making a Difference” – encouraging and supporting finance professionals to rise to these challenges and really make a difference to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the new NHS.
As we are all aware 2012 will be an extremely challenging year for the NHS. Finance professionals will need to drive and motivate themselves and their teams to implement the reforms successfully and find innovative ways of working with new organisations and key stakeholders. They will also continue to be tasked with managing the efficiency challenge and moving forward with the QIPP agenda.
Making a Difference is a joint HFMA/DH/FSD initiative that aims to provide an integrated package of support for all finance staff. As well as providing programmes to help finance staff develop new and existing skills to successfully implement and take forward the changes, HFMA also plan to offer a range of practical resources to enable finance professionals to share innovative ideas and learning on how to “get more with less”. These will include workshops, development programmes, coaching and mentoring opportunities, case studies and webinars and will be aimed at a range of finance professionals from divisional accountants to new finance directors.
Making a Difference Seminars
These one day seminars will be aimed at helping finance staff at all levels to meet the challenges they face whilst supporting and motivating their colleagues and teams to adapt to the new NHS world positively and effectively. Each seminar will provide an opportunity for participants to share good practice, learn from colleagues and update and develop their skills and knowledge in key areas.
Participants will benefit from hearing about the latest developments in NHS reform and how this is likely to impact on them and their teams. There will be plenty of opportunities for participants to focus on issues that they are finding particularly challenging and to discuss practical ways in which they can tackle and overcome these. The emphasis will be on inspiring new ideas and ways of working and on supporting and equipping finance staff to “make a difference” as team players, managers and leaders.
The seminar, which will be led and facilitated by Chris Hughes, is relevant to finance staff at all levels but will be particularly suitable for staff in bands 4-7. Participants will be involved in a range of lively and inspiring sessions which include the opportunity to work alongside actors to observe a real life situation performed and demonstrated by a team of actors. This will provide a unique opportunity to learn in an inspiring and exciting way in a non-threatening and fun environment.
Chris Hughes and Dramanon recently led highly successful sessions for FSD in the South West that resulted in excellent feedback including the following comments:
"Engaging, useful and very professional"
"Covered far more than I thought would be possible"
"Excellent and different approach, thoroughly enjoyable"
The "Making a Difference" seminar will build on some of the themes touched upon in earlier sessions and also focus on new areas for development.
