The policy programme for the next 5 years builds on the Blair Reform Agenda and starts to fashion a different organisational form and ways of doing business. Although early days if we follow the law and the money, we can work out how it will work broadly and then we can prepare our organisatons for the details once the Bill has cleared Parliament. To this end we will cover:
1. Denationalising and mutualising the provision of health and social care in the 21st century-what does this mean for our organisations?
2. Going Local-what does this mean for the new 'local authority' and 'managing agents' to support service commissioning and accountability?
3. GPs in the 21st century-what is the role of doctors in setting local priorities and engaging the public?
4. The Independent Board and policy think-tanks-what does the German and NZ experience tell us about the future locus of these critically important bodies?
5. The private sector's potential role and offering-what does the offer look like and what are the risks associated with the underlying debt structure of the industry?
