  • A chance to learn about key issues in NHS finance and improve your own performance for free.

    This FREE one-day event is for any member of finance staff in the East of England who is currently studying or about to embark on a course of study. The day will provide a mix of plenary and workshop sessions. There will also be plenty of opportunity to network with other finance students from across the region.

        • Workshop 1A - Costing Methods

          All accountancy students need a solid grasp of the basics of cost accounting so this workshop will give an overview of absorption and marginal costing. This session will be appropriate for students at the lower level of their studies.

        • Workshop 1B - Investment Appraisal

          Many accountancy exams require you to make long-term decisions and this workshop will cover four ways of doing this: Payback Period; Accounting Rate of Return; Net Present Value; and Internal Rate of Return. This session will be useful for students already part-way through their qualification.

        • Workshop 1C - Study Skills

          It is important as you progress in your qualification that you give yourself every edge in the exams by studying in the most effective and most valuable way. This session would be relevant to anyone who wants to improve the approach that they take to their studies.

        • Workshop 2A - Strategic Models

          An understanding of some simple business analysis models such as SWOT Analysis and Porter's Five Forces is crucial to helping to determine a coherent strategy for an organisation. This session will be relevant to students nearing the end of their qualification such as CIMA Strategic level or the ACCA Professional papers.

        • Workshop 2B - Consolidated Accounts

          In the financial accounting papers of all of the examining bodies, students need to be able to prepare and understand group accounts and the common adjustments that they involve. This session will suit students who are at the early stages of their studies.

        • Workshop 2C - Time Management

          At times it is easy to work very hard but achieve very little. Managing your time to ensure that you achieve the objectives that matter to you is crucial in your studies and in your wider career. This session is relevant for anyone who only has 24 hours in a day!
