KPMG in the UK is a leading provider of advisory, tax and audit services to the Department of Health and NHS organisations, including Strategic and Special Health Authorities, Primary Care Trusts, Acute Trusts, Foundation Trusts, and various Arms Length Bodies.  By bringing together multi-disciplinary teams, we work with these organisations to meet the financial, strategic and operational challenges they face due to the current political climate of extensive NHS Reforms.

In particular:

  • We are working with the Department of Health, The Office of the Strategic Health Authorities and the Institute for Innovation and Improvement in relation to a number of system reform and World Class Provision initiatives and continue to take a leading role in helping these organisations steer the future direction of health reform.
  • We have taken significant roles in assisting strategically and operationally challenged organisations - helping them to stabilise and improve in terms of both cost control and liquidity.  In particular, we have supported them through financial recovery, cost improvement and enhanced performance plans and helped streamline clinical and back office functions to help maximise overall performance.
  • We work with NHS Foundation Trusts (NHS FT) in assessment and development, helping trusts prepare for the challenge of the NHS FT assessment process and the licensed landscape.  We have completed over 45 application assessments and 20 licensing reviews with the Department of Health and Monitor
  • We work with high performing organisations to help them develop strategic focus and world class financial management.  In addition, we are tax and VAT adviser of choice to a number of leading NHS Foundation Trusts and NHS Trusts and are working closely with our clients and HMRC in respect of corporation tax, flexible benefits, PAYE/NIC and VAT issues.
  • We are working with the Department of Health, Strategic Health Authorities and PCTs across the World Class Commissioning agenda, assisting with assessment readiness reviews, market analysis, Trust and Board capability and skills development.  In addition, we are the only Big 4 FESC provider and are working with a number of PCTs to help redefine clinical pathways and help develop integrated care solutions.
  • As auditors, we are appointed as external auditor to over 40 NHS organisations across the country and fourteen Foundation Trusts and provide internal audit services to Monitor, NHS Trusts and other bodies such as NHS Professionals, the GMC and BMA
  • We have market leading financing and transactional experience - private finance initiatives (PFIs) and private partnerships.  We are working on over 20 PFI projects, delivering facilities work over £1.7 billion to the NHS.
