Our Chief Executive - Mark Knight

Mark became the first full-time Chief Executive of the then newly independent Healthcare Financial Management Association in October 2000.  During his career with the Association he has overseen the growth and development of HFMA.

His initial tasks in 2000/1 were to stabilise HFMA’s financial and internal management capabilities. He masterminded the move to Bristol and has established a team of 45 staff who are now totally dedicated to delivering HFMA’s busy agenda across the UK health economy.  Mark’s skills and experience in the sector have enabled HFMA to strengthen its internal capacity and develop its external profile.

On the policy side, Mark is a frequent contributor in the media and he is responsible for the development of a comprehensive policy programme.  He spoken at international events and contributed pieces to a number of healthcare journals.

Originally from the Midlands, Mark lives in Wales, where he studied as an undergraduate.  After a five year period in HR spent in the public services he worked for three professional bodies prior to taking up his current role.  Mark is a member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development and has passed the Diploma in Marketing leading to membership of the Chartered Institute of Marketing.
