Our President - Tony Whitfield
Tony has been a Finance Director in the NHS for twenty years. He is a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants, and holds an MA in financial management.
Joining the NHS in 1983 his career has been predominately based in the Acute Hospital Sector, joining Salford Royal in 2003.
Salford Royal is a recognised national leader in its emphasis on Safety and Quality, across its service offer from local community based services, to its specific expertise as a national centre in other areas of its work.
Tony has a keen interest in creating the bridges between clinical and managerial aspirations, hence his enthusiasm for safety and quality as an organising principal, and making sure finance teams have the opportunity to contribute to this agenda by having a deep understanding of how our services co-exist and the financing that makes that possible.
He has been heavily involved with work around SLM, and has a reputation for his commitment to finance staff development.
