Mike Alexander
I am the Finance Director and Deputy Chief Executive for NHS Nottinghamshire County. I graduated from the University of Strathclyde (BA hons) in 1985 and joined the regional training scheme in 1985 and became CIPFA qualified in 1988. I have been a Director of Finance since 1990 in different organisations, including specialist learning disability trust, acute trust and PCTs joining the Nottinghamshire County PCT in October 2006.
I am currently Chair of the East Midlands branch of HFMA and trustee of HFMA nationally as well as Chair of the East Midlands Finance Staff Development (FSD) Committee.
Outside interests include foundation governor for local primary school and children's worker for local church.
I am married to Christine, have one child and live in Leicestershire.
Why I wanted to be an HFMA Trustee?
I have been an HFMA member for a number of years, latterly Branch Chair for East Midlands. HFMA has greatly helped me in my CPD and in establishing a network of colleagues. I wanted to put something back into the development of the Association and its forward strategy. I am gaining a lot from the role - mainly about seeing the workings of the Association from the inside looking out (an entirely different perspective) much more like a non-executive role.
