E-Learning
Improving financial management is one of the biggest challenges that the NHS is currently facing but it’s not just finance professionals that need to ensure they keep on top of their CPD.
It’s becoming increasingly important for non-finance staff to get to grips with the finances and to update and develop their financial competence. HFMA have developed a suite of e-learning modules aimed at helping non finance professionals, non-executive directors and finance staff that are new to the NHS to improve their knowledge and understanding of various aspects of NHS Finance. Each module is linked to the KSF and provides relevant underpinning knowledge for the financial management dimension, G4 at levels 1-3.
HFMA E-learning provides training on financial issues and supports executive and non executive directors, senior managers and other non finance staff in helping their organisation to measure up to the KLOE standards and improve their ALE scores.
HFMA E learning involves learning through your desktop – wherever users have internet access. It is hosted on secure web servers so no software installation is required. E-learning has tremendous potential as a highly effective and cost efficient development tool for both finance and non finance staff.
HFMA have recently developed a suite of e-learning modules aimed at providing non finance professionals, NEDs and finance staff new to the NHS with an overview of different aspects of NHS finance. These modules provide the content for the Association's newly developed Introductory Certificate in Healthcare Finance in England.
How Long Do Modules Take to Complete?
Each e-learning module takes approximately one hour to complete and includes a final assessment test to assess the learner’s understanding of the material covered. Each module is also accompanied by distance learning texts which provide greater detail.
HFMA E- Learning – The Future
The Introductory Certificate is proving to be extremely popular and the Association are now planning an Intermediate Certificate which will be aimed predominantly at operational finance staff who wish to further develop their knowledge and understanding of NHS finance and demonstrate their competence in healthcare finance. A number of free modules are also being developed for HFMA members on topics such as study skills and professional ethics.
