Over 3,500 of those finance and non-finance staff are gaining an understanding and awareness of fundamental aspects of NHS finance through undertaking the ‘Introductory Certificate in Healthcare Finance in England’'
The Certificate is aimed primarily at non finance professionals in the NHS, particularly General and Divisional Managers, Nurse Managers, Practice Managers, Practice Staff and NEDs. It is also relevant to finance trainees, finance staff new to the NHS and to FTs.
Learners on the Certificate are required to successfully complete five out of the following modules. (Click on each module title to download a syllabus sheet)
Each module takes an average of 1 - 1.5 hours to complete (if completed in one sitting) plus a further 20-40 minutes for the assessment test, which means that achievement of the certificate should equate to approximately 7.5 hours CPD.
The certificate provides a much needed opportunity for non finance professionals in the NHS to demonstrate their competence in basic NHS finance. It also offers finance staff the chance to get to grips with the fundamentals of healthcare finance before embarking on a technical or professional accounting qualification.
