Mental Health Faculty - Terms of Reference
Constitution
· The Mental Health Special Interest Group is a working group of the HFMA Board of Trustees and is bound by the rules and regulations of the Board of Trustees
· The Group will report regularly to Board of Trustees during the period of time it is in existence
· The Chairman of the Group will be elected by its steering group
· The steering group will meet at suitable intervals (typically 2-3 monthly) and communicate by e-mail and the website
· There will be a number of sub-groups determined by the steering group, dedicated to driving forward the agenda of policy work-streams, which will be represented on the steering group by their chairmen.
Membership
· The steering group will comprise the Chairman, Vice-chairman and chairs of the sub-groups
· Other providers and commissioners of Mental Health services in the UK will be invited to attend the Group as the Chairman and steering group see fit
· The steering group shall invite representatives from allied organisations to sit on the Group who are not in the category above.
Purpose
The Mental Health Special Interest Group aims to:
· Be the representative voice of HFMA on all matters connected to the Mental Health
· Co-ordinate HFMA and its committees to influence the local and national Mental Health finance policy agenda
· Showcase and share good practice and promote research in the area of Mental Health finance
· Disseminate information to members about the progress of the initiatives and any other matter related to Mental Health which the Group sees fit
· Provide a vehicle for ordinary members of HFMA in Mental Health finance to voice concerns, seek advice and make comments
· Provide a formal channel into the four national health departments
· Develop partnerships with statutory, voluntary and professional bodies
· To provide opportunities to identify and meet the Continuing Professional Development needs of Group members and the wider Mental Health finance community
Outputs:
· The outputs of the Group will take the form of a regular report to Board of Trustees and analysis of work undertaken by group members which may be published from time to time.
The Group and its sub-groups will post regular bulletins, publications and proceedings on a dedicated page on the HFMA website and hold seminars and educational and networking events. The aim of the Group’s webpage will be to stimulate discussion and debate in order to enhance the opinion forming role of the HFMA, promote best practice and educate members of the Mental Health finance community.
