The recent 24hr event was held at the Thistle hotel in Brighton on 10th to 11th October.100 delegates attended and enjoyed a range of speakers discussing local and national issues .
On the Friday morning, delegates had the opportunity to enjoy a round of golf or the leisure facilities at the Hotel.
After a buffet lunch , Bob Alexander, (DOH) outlined the current national perspective on NHS finance issues with a South east Coast twist.
The AGM was followed by Chris Calkin (HFMA Chair ) presenting an entertaining overview of his recent trip looking at health care services in Russia.
Next came Peter Brambleby and Andrew Jackson providing an update on Programme Budgeting, informing on the latest developments and how it has now evolved into a tool and technique for which PCTs can use as an aid to increase the populations health, and see where the money is being spent and what value it adds.Chris Bentley , Head of the National Support Team of Heath Inequalities and visiting chair in public health at Sheffield Hallam University, continued the theme by looking at the health inequalities.
The evening offered an opportunity to unwind and network with colleagues. After enjoying a dinner, charity rafffle and, keeping to the theme of healthcare, the excellent GP and commedian Phil Hammond entertained everyone with his observations and anecdotes about life as a GP
The workshop events on the Saturday morning were well attended. There was a choice of three workshops , "Ethics in the workplace" and "faster closure"," Lean" and "Off the record".
Kate Hull Rogers surprised us all with her dynamic and energtic presentation on humour in the workplace whcih had us all experiencing the benefits of laughter and improving our health as a result!.
Back
